7th Grade Art
Student will examine, analyze, and understand the elements and principles of design, which include color, line, shape, value, form, texture, space, repetition, pattern, emphasis, contrast, and balance. Student will be able to analyze, compare and contrast, and identify different art themes through out history such as the switch from Christianity to Greek and roman mythology. Students will identify and create art from personal, historical, cultural, and social influence and understand the effect these elements have on the art world. Students will create an artist statement for their artwork and discuss their creative choices with peers while revising their artwork through out the creative process. They will present their artwork and process to the class and the community through an art show. Students will create a weekly sketchbook, drawings, paintings, and sculptures depicting personal ideas and influences.

Student sketchbook assignments are weekly and graded on a 30 pt scale. Students will receive 10 points for simple drawing, 20 points for a drawing with some detail, and 30 points for a whole page composition with detail and a background. Students will be shown examples of each point area so they comprehend the expectations. Students sketchbooks will be checked every thursday at the beginning of the hour.

Color Theory Painting
Using knowledge of color, and the elements of art, students will explore their creativity in a color theory painting design to teach them basic painting and blending techniques.

Roy Lichtenstien Printmaking
Students will look at the primary work of Roy Lichtenstien. They will produce prints using Gelli Art pads and monoprinting techniques that displays the style of Lichtenstien. Students will be focusing on primary colors, pattern, design, movement, and balance.
African Face Jugs
A clay unit where students depict a unique facial expression on a clay jug. Students will create a three- dimensional functional vessel decorated by a unique face they choose to place upon it. Students will learn vocabulary of clay and sculpture while creating.
